ABOUT
MR. HE XIANGJIAN

Mr. He Xiangjian was born in Shunde, Guangdong in 1942.

In 1968, he led 23 local residents and started a small business with the RMB 5,000 raised. Now this small business has become a Fortune Global 500 tech company—Midea Group with about 190,000 employees globally.

After passing the mantle of the company's leadership to a management team, Mr. He embarked on a new journey of philanthropy — giving back to society, the country, and his hometown community. His philanthropic efforts include investing RMB 2 billion and 100 million stocks of Midea Group which is worth RMB 6 billion to create the He Foundation, RMB 10 billion to build the Non-profit Heyou International Hospital, and establishing a sustainable "charitable trust + foundation" framework for charities.

The He Foundation’s philanthropic activities expanded rapidly, earning Mr. He a place on the Hurun China Philanthropy List for 15 consecutive years as well as accolades such as the "Contributor to National Poverty Alleviation", "National Model Worker", and "Chinese Charity Award".

Mr. He is dedicated to creating a better life for everyone. He knows that science is key to improving people's lives and he is a firm believer in the pivotal role that technological innovation plays in the development of society. His regard for scientific and technological talents as well as his belief in the scientific spirit never wavered. This is why he has decided to set up the He Science Foundation to encourage and commend top scientists, boost scientific research dedicated to significant progress in both science and society, and achieve independent and sustainable development of science. Mr. He embodies an entrepreneur’s sense of social responsibility and patriotism through his participation in a wide range of philanthropic activities such as donations, financial assistance and charity work. The He Science Foundation is not only the result of such entrepreneurial spirit but an achievement that lifts its very definition to greater heights.
